Since 2017, we have been dedicated to leading the path to inclusive leadership. We have led the fight for the comprehensive empowerment of Zambia’s youth, women, and persons living with disabilities.
ACHIEVEMENTS
PYPA/CYLA Training: CYLA, in partnership with Green Forum, is currently running the Program for Young Politicians in Africa (PYPA) aimed at training youth from political parties in Zambia and Malawi. The training teaches young politicians to build their capacity in governance, communication, public speaking, accountability, transparency, and political mobillization.
Youth and Women’s Manifestos (2021): CYLA successfully formulated a national youth and manifesto that speaks to the social, economic, and political aspirations of young people, women, and persons with disabilities.
Ambassador and Membership Drive: We have created numerous capacity building platforms across the country for young people to dialogue and engage with each other without using violence as a means of conflict resolution.
Peace Walks: We have successfully presented a petition to the electoral mother of Zambia, the ECZ in the Chilanga 2018 may parliamentary elections, using a peace walk to create traction across social media.
Studies and Reports: We have successfully conducted numerous studies and reports on the participation of young people in elections; highlighting key issues that affect the participation of young people in elections, the challenges they encounter, and providing relevant recommendations.
CYLA Youth Debates: CYLA has held numerous debates on how to increase youth participation in issues of governance and policy making.
Budget Analyses: We have worked with numerous student unions to formulate budget analyses relevant to the needs and concerns of young people and the underrepresented.
